"Superman Tonight" music video to premiere on Vevo!

    February 2, 2010 35 Comments

(Feb. 2, 2010 – New York, NY) The show-stopping video for “Superman Tonight,” the explosive new single by Island Records group Bon Jovi, will premiere at #1 music network VEVO on Wednesday, February 3rd, prior to the clip’s broadcast premiere on VH1 Saturday, February 6th.

The news coincides with Bon Jovi’s debut performance at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night, broadcast on CBS-TV. The performance climaxed a two-week contest that invited fans to log-in at CBS.com and choose from a menu of six classic Bon Jovi songs for the band to perform – “Living on a Prayer” was chosen as the winner. At the Grammys, Bon Jovi was nominated for Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals for “We Weren’t Born To Follow.”

“Superman Tonight” is the latest single from THE CIRCLE, Bon Jovi’s 11th studio album (released November 10th). In addition to its #1 Soundscan debut in the U.S., THE CIRCLE was top 10 in more than a dozen territories worldwide.

As Bon Jovi’s 25th year celebration on record continues into 2010, the global success of THE CIRCLE and the release of “Superman Tonight” sets the stage for the band’s upcoming “The Circle World Tour.” A 32-city North American itinerary opens the world tour, beginning February 19th at KeyArena in Seattle, wrapping up four months later on July 30th, at Soldier Field in Chicago. Among the high points, Bon Jovi will play the kickoff event at New Jersey’s New Meadowlands Stadium, set for pre-Memorial Day on Wednesday-Thursday, May 26-27th.

THE CIRCLE follows-up Bon Jovi’s worldwide multi-platinum albums: Have A Nice Day (2005), with the Grammy winning single, “Who Says You Can’t Go Home”; and Lost Highway (2007), which debuted at #1 in the U.S. and around the world.

Over the next two years, Bon Jovi’s “The Circle World Tour,” promoted by AEG Live, will play 135 shows in 30 countries. Having sold over 120 million albums and performed more than 2,600 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 34 million fans, the Grammy Award-winning band is at their best when they’re on the move, and that’s truer now than ever before. THE CIRCLE album and world tour reassert Bon Jovi’s commitment to the hard-hitting rock and roll that has been their indelible signature for more than 25 years. Tickets for “The Circle World Tour” are on sale now for all North American concerts – information can be found at http://www.bonjovi.com/tour.

BON JOVI’s NEW ALBUM, THE CIRCLE, CAPTURES SECOND CONSECUTIVE #1 DEBUT WITH 163,000 COPIES!!

    November 18, 2009 57 Comments

WORLDWIDE SINGLE “WE WEREN’T BORN TO FOLLOW” LEADS TO #1 ALBUM DEBUTS IN CANADA, JAPAN AND GERMANY – #2 DEBUT IN UK (November 18, 2009 – New York, NY) Legendary Island Records group Bon Jovi caps the celebration of their 25th year on record with a second consecutive #1 Soundscan debut – as their 11th studio album THE CIRCLE (released November 10th) sails into the top spot on first week sales of 163,000 copies.

“Coming after their #1-selling tour of last year, this #1 chart debut for Bon Jovi once again proves they have a loyal fan base that transcends every change in popular music,” said Antonio ‘L.A.’ Reid, Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group. “After two and a half decades of uninterrupted success, Bon Jovi continues to stay at the top of their game, with no signs of slowing down.”

The new album’s success – which include #1 chart debuts in Canada, Japan and Germany, and a #2 debut in the UK – is fueled by the band’s current worldwide single, “We Weren’t Born To Follow.” Bon Jovi performed the song live at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate on November 9th, at the gala 20th anniversary commemoration of the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. The perform¬ance was underscored by their appearance on the NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams. “We Weren’t Born To Follow” stays inside the Top 10 at Hot AC radio formats, and the video is in its 4th week on the VH1 Top 20 Countdown.

Bon Jovi’s appearance in Berlin capped two weeks of international promotion in advance of THE CIRCLE’s arrival. On Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11th, the day after the album’s U.S. release, NBC Television “Artists-In-Residence” Bon Jovi performed live at the Today Show’s Rockefeller Plaza. Two days later on Friday the 13th, Bon Jovi launched the opening of the new Best Buy store on Union Square in Manhattan. Upcoming live TV performances include: Bravo’s Inside The Actors Studio with James Lipton (Nov. 16); Ellen DeGeneres (Nov. 23); NBC’s The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien (Nov. 20); a return to the Today Show (Nov. 25); Late Night with Jimmy Fallon (Dec. 9); and Saturday Night Live (Dec. 12).

“We Weren’t Born To Follow” was written (and co-produced) by Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora, and was produced by John Shanks, who worked with Bon Jovi on their last two albums: Have A Nice Day (2005), which featured the Grammy winning single, “Who Says You Can’t Go Home”; and Lost Highway (2007), which debuted at #1 on the Soundscan charts in the U.S. and around the world.

Bon Jovi’s 25 years on record is chronicled this year in filmmaker and photo¬grapher Phil Griffin’s documentary film Bon Jovi: When We Were Beautiful (produced by Radical Media); and the publication of its companion book, Bon Jovi: When We Were Beautiful, the first ever officially authorized Bon Jovi book (HarperCollins, October 2009).

Bon Jovi’s “The Circle World Tour,” promoted by AEG Live, will kick off in Seattle on February 19, 2010. Over the next two years, the band will visit 30 countries for 135 shows. Bon Jovi’s last outing, the “Lost Highway World Tour,” was 2008’s top-grossing tour. Tickets for “The Circle World Tour” are on sale now for all North American concerts – information can be found at http://www.bonjovi.com/tour.

Bon Jovi has set the standard for more than two decades as one of the most successful rock bands in the world. Globally, the Grammy Award-winning band has sold more than 120 million albums and performed more than 2,600 concerts in over 50 countries for more than 34 million fans.

Bon Jovi Tackle America's Problems on New Album

Bruce Springsteen isn't the only New Jersey rocker with a social conscience. Jon Bon Jovi, who like Springsteen raised money for President Barack Obama and has said in interviews he is friends with the Commander in Chief, tells Spinner the band's new album, 'The Circle,' was shaped by politics.

"Lyrically, I think it touches on who and what we are as a country right now," Bon Jovi says. "So when you listen closely to the lyrics of 'We Were Born to Follow' or 'When We Were Beautiful' or 'Work for the Working Man,' you think about those people from DHL who lost their jobs in Ohio. You go, 'I remember that, I know when that happened. That was November of '08.' So it marks moments of time for us."

Creating music to accompany rites of passage is nothing new for the Jersey boys. They've been told tales for more than two decades of how their music has been the soundtrack for other people's lives. "'Slippery When Wet' marked those milestones for a lot of kids and we've heard those stories now for 23 years," Bon Jovi says. "I'll meet people now that are working in government or running corporations or big grown adults and they go, 'Oh, man, 'Slippery' was my record. That was my teenage years, my make-out record.'"

What are some of the most memorable moments they've heard from people? "The guys in the Iraq war would come back and come see our shows and say they would do raids to 'Wanted Dead or Alive,'" he says. "Or people getting married to 'Never Say Goodbye.'"

"You have to write songs that are not only relevant to yourself, but also resonate throughout the world and throughout other people," guitarist Richie Sambora adds. "Luckily we've learned how to do that and it comes natural to us."

But if there's one song that really stands out for that, the track that has become Bon Jovi's anthem, well, it should come as no surprise. "Obviously 'Livin' on a Prayer' everybody related to," Bon Jovi says. "Tommy and Gina were characters that we created that became everyone -- everyone all over the world related to who those people were as well as we did."

'The Circle' is available now from Island.
