His Royal Highness Prince William presents award to Jon Bon Jovi

Last night in London, His Royal Highness Prince William honored Jon Bon Jovi with an award recognizing his commitment to Centrepoint, a charity working towards ending youth homelessness in the UK.  Jon accepted the award and performed in front of 600 guests at the Winter Whites Gala, held in aid of the charity at Kensington Palace.

Accepting the award, Jon said: “Nights like this happen once in a lifetime but the chance to affect change can last a lifetime. Each one of you tonight have that chance to affect change.”

Following the award presentation, guests enjoyed performances by Taylor Swift, James Blunt, Tinie Tempah and Jon Bon Jovi.  The biggest surprise of the night came when JBJ invited the prince to join him on stage.  Prince William agreed, but only on the condition that Ms. Swift would join as well.

To the delight of the crowd, the trio broke out in an impromptu rendition of “Livin’ On A Prayer.”

Jon Bon Jovi on Prince William’s performance: “His Majesty had “IT.” If he ever wants to give up his day job, we could do a charity single for Centrepoint and the JBJ Soul Foundation. He was a great sport, and I assure you all the man can sing.”

Overall the night was a huge success in support of Centrepoint with His Royal Highness closing the evening saying: “Tonight will move us all one step closer to helping these deserving young people, these inspiring young people who, given the right opportunities, can go on to achieve so much.

‘Our support, ladies and gentlemen, can allow them to secure themselves a bed, an education, a job, a future.”
