REVIEW: BON JOVI ROCK BACK WITH GOOD MEDICINE (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD)

It was a show that promised captivating stage presence and leg-shaking rock’n’roll, and boy oh boy did Bon Jovi deliver.

For more than two hours the US rockers had the MCG crowd salivating with a seemingly endless list of hit songs including You Give Love A Bad Name, Wanted Dead Or Alive and Livin’ on a Prayer.

Saturday night marked the band’s first return to Australia in five years. And while a greying JBJ appeared to tire briefly about an hour into the show, guitarist Phil X and drummer Tico Torres only lifted.

Besides, how could anyone complain about singing along to the likes of Bad Medicine, I’ll Be There for You, Lay Your Hands on Me, It’s My Life and Bed of Roses in a stadium with next-level sound quality.

The band’s latest album, This House is Not For Sale, shows true rock music can transcend the generations.

And while some in the crowd took the opportunity to briefly sit while the band’s latest hits were belted out, there’s no denying they sounded like true Bon Jovi records.

There’s no sign of Bon Jovi slowing down any time soon. And that’s no doubt to the delight of staunch fans, more than 60,000 of whom poured into the MCG on Saturday.
